Your approach to success in German society, university and working life.

This 2-days-workshop is designed to make students from abroad more successful from the perspective of intercultural differences. These can cause misunderstandings, isolation and frustration. Which are the key questions and competences to communicate with German people in university etc.? Are there hidden rules for successful communication? We will discuss your questions for your first steps in Germany!

Cultural and language skills:    

German A1 level in role plays.

Visual and textual examples.

Dealing with formats.

Introduce yourself and formulate your research interests.

Interacting with German people:

German oddity about “Pünktlichkeit” (punctuality).

Meet & greet German people or the importance of “Händeschütteln”.

Historical background of German digitalism and the importance of “Ja/Nein” answers in German culture.

Importance of imaginary reliability in German society.

How and where to meet German people?
