German Culture and Society
Fr., 09.06.2023 4pm till 8pm
Sa., 10.06.2023 9am till 5pm
Although your entire study program may be in English, it is essential for you to understand German customs and conventions and to get a sense of Germany’s history.
The workshop in English and German will:
-practice how to communicate with fellow students, professors and professionals such as landlords and bank clerks.
-practice how to introduce yourself and do “small talk”
-Provide a sense of German socio-political history from 1945 to today
-Discuss social and cultural differences when it comes to politeness, environmental issues or customs.
-recognize and avoid cross-cultural misunderstandings
Instructor: Dr. Suzanne Alweiss
