Home University / Research Institute

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki, Greece

Host research group

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Robert Schober, Institute for Digital Communications (IDC), Department of Electrical-Electronic-Communication Engineering at FAU

Research period at the Faculty of Engineering, FAU

September 2023 – March 2025

What is the focus of your research during your visit?

My research during the visit will focus on increasing connectivity and reliability in the next generation of wireless networks. This will be achieved by proposing novel communication paradigms that are based on optical wireless communication (OWC), reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), distributed artificial intelligence (AI), over-the-Air computing (AirComp), and the joint optimization of communication and computational resources.

I choose FAU because

My ambition is to establish a close, long-term collaboration between the IDC and my research group. Based on my own experience with Prof. Schober and his impeccable reputation, I am convinced that this collaboration will open new research directions and lead to ground-breaking results. Also, FAU is consistently one of the top public universities in Germany for engineering, which will facilitate the outreach and increase the impact of the proposed research.
