Professor Dr. Arkady Zgonnikov is Assistant Professor at the Department of Cognitive Robotics and Co-director of the HERALD Delft AI Lab, Faculty 3mE, Delft University of Technology (The Netherlands). He is currently visiting Prof. Dr. Philipp Beckerle, Chair of Autonomous Systems and Mechatronics (ASM).

Originally from an engineering background, Dr. Zgonnikov has always been fascinated by human behavior, so as a researcher he is helping to bridge the fields of cognitive science and robotics. To this end, he is developing cognitive models of human behavior in human-robot interactions, with a focus on automated driving. He also collaborates with researchers in robotics and artificial intelligence to incorporate these cognitive models into the design of robots and automated driving systems. His research uses theories and models from cognitive psychology and neuroscience to develop intelligent systems that respond to human reasons and intentions. The overarching goal of his work is to find ways to develop intelligent artificial systems that can reliably and smoothly interact with the humans around them and remain under meaningful human control.

Arkady Zgonnikov will give a talk in hybrid form about cognitive modeling in HRI that might be interesting for staff and students in EEI, AIBE, and the whole TF:

27 April 2022, 10 -11 pm, Room 02.037 (Paul-Gordan-Straße 3-5) or via https://fau.zoom.us/j/64823442617
